Crab

A small reddish colored crustacean, they can be caught by crouching. If you attempt to stomp, stab or drill a crab and miss, it will scurry away and escape into the ground. The crab will resurface a few seconds later, giving you another attempt to capture or kill it.

Crushing a Crab will produce a Vampire Fungus mushroom.

Like most beasts, it has a rare golden variant, the Golden Crab.

Notes

• You will know a Crab is nearby when you hear a crackling sound and "kani, kani, kani", much like the Frogs saying "gero-gero".
• As you progress and your Fighters become stronger, the Crab becomes more useful for the mushroom it provides rather than as a healing item. Using the Vampire Fungus can help mitigate damage when you're about to enter a boss fight or trap room.
