Let It Die Wiki talk:Community portal

I am starting this page but have very little experience with talk pages but just wanted to say that there is plenty on here that needs to be messed with such as the main page so if anyone with more experience reads this, We need a better way to look at the pages on this wiki as the one we have right now is rough, incomplete and out of the way leaving it really unfriendly to readers.EucalypTusk (talk) 18:12, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Weapon/Stat Scaling! Hey Senpais! Something I need to check all the time because it's not visible ingame is weapon damage scaling from str/dex! I don't think even the Japanese wiki has this, and the google sheet on reddit has a photo of some kid's graph paper instead of an actual table... My question is, do you think this should be its own page, or under the main Weapons page, or what? Wherever the main table goes, it would also be cool to include the scaling on individual weapon pages, so you look at the Hammer page and it just says "100% Strength" or something. • "Some kid" is Ares (who is not a kid), currently a Discord mod and the only guy who's bothered testing to find out the data on weapon scaling at all... so we're lucky he even posted that. This game is nigh impossible to datamine and to my knowledge no one else has done tests for scaling.
  Anyway, yeah I was planning to add something like this to the infobox template for the weapon pages sometime. I don't think it needs it's own page but it could be added to the main Weapons page. I'm currently trying to get some other features on the wiki working (also doing IRL work) so I don't know when I'll get to it, but I guess you can give it a shot. You don't need permission, really... not a lot of people here, and I check every edit so if it was really terrible I would do something about it anyway. Edit it if you want to, just be aware I may need to make changes in the future.
  Also if you're planning to edit regularly, I would recommend making an account, not only to make keeping track of contributions easier, but because if you edit enough you'll automatically be granted Gamepedia Pro which will remove the (terrible) ads. Uniting this wiki with Fandom's Let it Die community

For those who have not yet heard: Last year, Gamepedia and Fandom joined forces and are now two platforms on the same network. Later this year, we'll even become one unified platform. The teams at both Gamepedia and Fandom want to encourage our communities to work together now instead of splitting their efforts and competing with each other for readers and new editors.

I'd like to know how all of you here feel about uniting with Fandom's Let it Die community. That would mean we archive one wiki - lock it from editing but keep the pages accessible to readers - and put a banner up that directs visitors towards the other, active wiki. Anyone who used to edit the now-archived wiki would be able to contribute to the active wiki, and any content on one side that's missing on the other can be moved over with edit histories intact.

Note: No merger will take place if both communities don't agree to it.

The advantages of becoming one community working together are clear: By working together, all fans of Let it Die could build a resource on the game more effectively, keep it up-to-date more easily, and players would no longer be confused as to which site they should turn to for information.

This Gamepedia wiki sees significantly more traffic than the Fandom wiki meaning this is the best choice for the primary wiki location. Nothing would really have to change except to welcome editors over from Fandom to join you in working on this wiki! It's a win, win!

I agree. There hasn't really been "competition" per se, but the Fandom wiki is edited once in a blue moon, whereas this one has at least stayed relatively active, with a much larger existing database of game information. I wouldn't be opposed to a merger, but honestly, I don't even think there's much to merge. Probably just better for that wiki to be archived. Kaito 9562 (talk) 00:35, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
