hey, i like what you did with the little hp/xp/kill coin images. having a bit of illustration there makes the effect section look much nicer :D --Eithris (talk) 03:03, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

Ah thanks, I was contemplating whether it looked better that way or not. I'm glad somebody liked them! I'm actually gathering a bunch more images right now, and plan to complete the majority of the beasts & shrooms within a few days (on the raw data side, at least). If you have any suggestions to improve anything else, please let me know. Though for the Frog/Frongus pages, aside from changing/adding words I couldn't think of any more ways to improve the formatting, lol. But Image Editing and Data Collection is what I would like to think are my strong suits, so if you had something in mind you'd like worked on after beasts/shrooms I could give it a shot. In any case, thank you for the compliment!
Actually, I was meaning to ask you this anyway. Are you the one in charge of this wiki? --Kaito 9562 (talk) 03:25, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
after the beasts/shrooms, if you would be interested in getting in-game images of weapons/armor, that'd be a huge help. i've been working on implementing an infobox template (Hammer & Road Shocker Coat have it, for example) and the biggest hurdle is that my laptop is a bit of a toaster, so having the game on high settings AND having an image editor open to paste screenshots is a bit of an ordeal, heh
& i'm not sure anyone's really in charge :P but i think i am the only currently-active admin besides TheSatanicSanta, our wiki manager. so yeah, if you need any admin stuff done, i'm probably your gal! --Eithris (talk) 19:15, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
Cool, that's probably what I was going to look towards anyway. Actually, about a year ago I tried to put up some images on the DIY Set pages, but I hadn't quite decided how I wanted to edit everything, and then I ended up taking a pretty long break. But I'm back now, so I will definitely be taking a look at giving these pages in-game pictures. I'm taking these images from PS4, so there's not too much I can do for the quality... but so far, I think it's negligible. But if PS4 is a problem then I can try something else.
Yeah only reason I ask about admins is because I had a bad experience with this grumpy one before. I think having a good (or at least, not terrible) relationship with them is good for anyone who wants to edit a lot on a wiki. I've never been a moderator, though editing has always sort of been a hobby of mine. But the only thing I would actually want is the ability to delete images, because inevitably I end up uploading images that don't work how I thought they would, or that I no longer need. But uh, that would be more of a long-term goal of mine, lol. I'm going to continue editing regardless. I'm nearly done with gathering data for Beasts now. Thank you for the feedback! --Kaito 9562 (talk) 20:10, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
ye, being super crisp isn't too much of a concern, it just needs to illustrate the item. lighting & camera angle are the main issues i ran into for equipment--but i did find the waiting room has pretty good lighting in certain spots, and you can back the camera into the columns to get a much closer shot of your character P:
& oof, i'm sorry to hear that happened. i hope i can be more helpful to ya; a wiki's nothing without its editors --Eithris (talk) 01:07, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
Yeah I try and be consistent with my images, so finding a good spot in the Waiting Room is an interesting challenge. Sometimes I wish your character didn't vanish whenever you get really close to a wall because I think you could use it for better close-up shots otherwise. Ah well, I'll work with it.
And y'know, despite how simple that phrase is, it's surprising how many admins I've seen that just don't seem to care about their users. So thanks, that means a lot. --Kaito 9562 (talk) 01:57, 30 October 2018 (UTC)

UCX implementation

Hi! I’m Héctor, one of the Fandom Community Managers. I’m here to talk with you about the upcoming changes we will experiment on the wikis when the new UCX will be released. As a result, we’ll have to adapt the current content - mainly the design and implemented code - to ensure they’re compatible and operational.

Specifically talking, the UCX will mainly affect the Frontpage, the design (logo, background, favicon, themes), the CSS/JS used and some templates that should adapt their look to it. While the wiki will still be migrated some weeks later, I’m here to work alongside you to anticipate all the work regarding review, improvements and adaptation to the new skin.

If you agree, I’ll start soon, reviewing the mentioned elements and describing to you what work should be done. For the case of the design, I can work with the future version, that will be working once the wiki will be migrated. Regarding the frontpage, templates and the code, I can work and implement the changes now, to have them properly working both in the present and the future, but having all the changes done in advance.

Let me know if you have any comments about it and we can explore together the upcoming changes. Thanks! --CuBaN VeRcEttI <staff /> (Contact) 18:18, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Well, I'm not entirely sure what the deal with the Fandom stuff is, but it seems like big changes are happening regardless. So yeah, I guess we may as well get started. Kaito 9562 (talk) 00:08, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
Hi again! I've finished the tweaks the wiki needed. In your case was really easy, because apart from creating the new 2 themes (dark based in the current one) and re-uploading the logo and favicon, I basically copied the code for the fronptage sections and infoboxes from the hydradark.css page to the new fandomdesktop.css page (for the UCX skin), changing the colors by CSS variables, what makes them compatible with both themes at the same time. --CuBaN VeRcEttI <staff /> (Contact) 10:12, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

Opt-in release

Hello again! As we have announced in our new blog, the opt-in exploration is available to you now! You can basically take a look at the main areas of the wiki, but as I explained the main things you should keep into account are the frontpage, the tables and their style, and other templates like infoboxes and navboxes. All of this, always thinking about the option of switching between the light and dark theme and all the content should be readable and adapted to both at the same time. In addition, all the wikis have to create a combination of colors for the light and dark theme, using the ThemeDesigner tool, and also re-upload the logo and favicon, and optionally the background (but it will work differently as header background, so it’s up to you what we’ll do with it on your wiki).

I already adapted the content and code to be compatible with FandomDesktop (the new skin), and also created the 2 themes and re-uploaded the assets. You can perfectly make any change to the ThemeDesigner and/or the Mediawiki pages, but I really encourage you to talk with me first. I’ve been adapting it, and I put some concrete stuff (colors in the ThemeDesigner, code in the MW pages and in one page but not another) for concrete reasons (basically to have all compatible with both themes), so to be more practical I think it’s better if we discuss about any proposal/issue/preference you could find/want before make changes. Thanks for everything! --CuBaN VeRcEttI <staff /> (Contact) 20:57, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

Right, I was looking around in that after the notif this morning. You'll have to forgive me for being a bit out of the loop, this Wiki is pretty small so I only check here infrequently. I'm far from any sort of web design expert either. I bring this up to say that I'm likely going to need help with any larger changes. After looking at the new style, the main thing that comes to mind is fixing most of the wikitables on the wiki to display properly. I've been meaning to try and create a template for this sometime soon, though the design is somewhat up in the air, since I need to fit a lot on it. If you had anything else in mind that should be addressed, I'd love to hear it, though. I take it this layout will become the default soon, so there may very well be other issues I'm unaware of yet. I'm usually on Discord more, though I don't mind talking here either. Thank you for reaching out to me! Kaito 9562 (talk) 01:24, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
Nothing to be sorry. :) I already adapted the frontpage and infoboxes, but there's probably some other content to adapt, like tables as you have said. My recommendation is mainly to specify a class for them (or more than one if you want it), but in any case specify all their style using CSS classes, and not individual styles on each page/template. With this, you can easily define all later using the different CSS pages and adapt your design for both themes.
What's the current situation of the tables? Are they already created and styled? How are them? Could you show me some examples? --CuBaN VeRcEttI <staff /> (Contact) 09:03, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
You can see some examples here or here. We have a lot of equipment pages that look like this. However, I was a dumbo when I made them, because I was very new when I started, so I never made a template for the tables. I put them all in manually. So now, they look really bad on mobile and it seems they're gonna look really bad with the new format too. The main issue I had with designing a template is that these tables have a lot of information, and I wanted to preserve as much as possible. I want to keep all the current columns, but the best I can do for the info is just abbreviating some of it. Annoyingly, the most important column (Materials) is also the hardest to fit into a new design. Since a large majority of our pages is equipment, which is one of the most common things players search for, I do think it's important to improve them. Unfortunately I'm not too familiar with creating my own CSS either. Kaito 9562 (talk) 15:00, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
