heya! sorry to bother, but as a wiki manager do you know much about extensions? specifically CategorySkins. the prefix/suffix feature that page mentions seems like it could be really useful in regards to floor numbers... if i'm interpreting it right. i'd love to be able to remove the floor numbers from the names of pages like Ikegara - 1F and Tamata - 3F, but leave 'em intact in categories. e.g. move "Ikegara - 1F" to "Ikegara" and make "1F" a prefix that only appears on category pages

the problem is that i'm not 100% sure that's what the extension page is describing, and i also have no idea how to even enable or use an extension. so ye, any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated --Eithris (talk) 05:07, 21 October 2018 (UTC)

I don't think I quite understand what it is you want. As I understand, you want them to be, for example, "1F/Ikegara" and have this page only display "Ikegara" as the title? TheSatanicSanta (talk) 20:40, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
i mean like, have the actual article title be "Ikegara", but have it display as "1F Ikegara" or something similar when it's being viewed in the Category namespace, if that'd be possible --Eithris (talk) 22:56, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
So we can set the DISPLAYTITLE magic word to be used to change display titles. Doing this would mean that you create pages like "1F Ikegara," so they show in the category as that "1F Ikegara," then set the DISPLAYTITLE to be "Ikegara," and I would personally recommend also creating redirects of "Ikegara" to "1F Ikegara." Does this sound adequate? TheSatanicSanta (talk) 03:11, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
oohh, that sounds like it ought to work. give the pages the appearance of nice clean names, but under the hood keep the detailed names—pretty clever
i’ll try it out after work. thank you! —Eithris (talk) 18:57, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
mm. unfortunately it looks like that won't work after all, unless it's possible to change how a magic word functions. seems DISPLAYTITLE is only meant for formatting, not actual changes :( "Warning: Display title "Ikegara" was ignored since it is not equivalent to the page's actual title." --Eithris (talk) 03:56, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
Right, this could be changed with a setting change. Although on speaking with some other Wiki Managers, I don't think this is the best solution anyway. A better solution would be to include a DynamicPageList query in the Floors category page that sorts them by floor. This would be less confusing to users and accomplish the kind of sorting you want in the category page. TheSatanicSanta (talk) 20:18, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
hmmm. looking it up i... only barely understand it tbh, but it certainly looks like it has a lot of options! if it can make the category output as something similar to a numbered list, but pull specified text for each page somehow, that should be perfect --Eithris (talk) 23:34, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
I've enabled the extension to experiment to come to a solution. See User:TheSatanicSanta/Floors and let me know what you think. This extension is versatile so there's lots of things we can do. An idea based on this could be to move the pages to not include the "1F" and instead search based on Cargo properties, but that's slightly more complicated (still doable though, to be sure). Is this something like what you're looking for? TheSatanicSanta (talk) 23:47, 27 October 2018 (UTC)

(un-indent) aye, moving the pages so their names don't include floor number is the main thing i'm wanting. the issue with doing that is just that, well, without them the relevant categories would be incomprehensible (e.g. it'd be just a list of names that probably no one remembers past floor 10 or so). if Cargo can assign numbers for DPL to pull, that'd be excellent
style-wise, my original idea was to find some way to have the floor-related categories output as something like...

1–10

etc, since having 40+ different headers once these categories are fully populated might be a bit much. but, if that isn't doable, what you've got now will also definitely work
& thank you for looking into this, by the way. i realize this whole thing is basically just me being super nitpicky ("a few categories being hard to navigate isn't THAT bad," is what a logical person would probably say :p ) so ye, i really appreciate your help so far --Eithris (talk) 01:38, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

Tabber

heya, could we possibly get the Tabber extension enabled, for use in infoboxes? c: --Eithris (talk) 23:26, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

It's been enabled. TheSatanicSanta (talk) 18:54, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
