Before Returning to your Waiting Room hold out with 1HP just once when taking fatal damage on a raid.

Effect

This decal's description is misleading, as it was never updated. More in line with it's stronger counterpart, Living on the Edge Thrice, it ought to read; "You can receive fatal damage and survive on 1 HP once before returning to the Waiting Room." Essentially, there is no limitation to the areas this decal will work in, despite the original description suggesting it only works when Raiding in TDM.

This effect triggers before Lifeshrooms, as this effect leaves you at 1 HP, while Lifeshrooms require you to hit 0 HP first. It can potentially save you from things Lifeshrooms cannot, as when using only Lifeshrooms, powerful enough hits can still kill you if they do more damage than the Lifeshroom heals.

Stacking this decal simply has both effects trigger at the same time; in other words, it will still only save you once.

Anything hitting multiple times in quick succession, as well as any fire/poison DoT, is likely to kill you just as quickly with or without this decal.

Fighter

Living on the Edge can potentially save you from a dangerous situation while exploring the tower... once. If you do not have many other decals to use, it can work fine. The problem arises once you start having more options available. Living on the Edge will only work a single time, and afterwards, it's a dead decal slot, making it ill-suited for longer runs. It also can't save you from every situation, as multihits and DoT are a major weakness of this decal.

Defense

This decal is much better suited towards base defense, due to the one-time-use nature of it, and can save your defenders in a pinch. You can use this with decals like Body Double to give them a chance to survive even more hits at 1 HP, or with Payback to convert all of their lost HP into damage. It's also an option for a defender wearing an Alarm, possibly keeping them alive long enough to trigger it.

Keep in mind this decal still has a major weakness to fast/multi-hit attacks, or fire/poison effects, limiting the effectiveness of its protection. And while potentially keeping a defender alive longer, it does not offer true DEF, either, meaning you may get more mileage out of more DEF-focused decals.
