TENGOKU is the final challenge between you and the top of the Tower of Barbs. The Tower seems to reach forever into the heavens...
Upon surpassing the Battle To The Top, you'll reach 51F TENGOKUMON, hosting the final elevator in the game as well as the gate into Tengoku proper. TENGOKU is an "endless" area of the tower, beginning at 52F and continuing all the way to the top. There are many similarities to the last area, but some key differences. As before, all enemies encountered are Haters, and all floors are randomized versions of previous Tower floors. However, you'll fight a boss every 5th floor - a Screamer Pit, a Mid-Boss, or (at 100F or higher), a Don. These Boss floors will always contain a Legendary Chest, which Tengoku is the main source of Bloodnium, a resource which drops from all enemies in place of SPLithium. It's mainly used along with the Death 'Roids you'll also find here to Uncap your Fighters, making them incredibly more powerful than before. The endless nature of the area also means you'll have to Uncap your equipment, in order to increase their strength and durability to higher levels. Tengoku's difficulty level gradually increases as you pass through each floor, and you'll encounter better and better tier materials as well. Likewise, you'll find tougher enemies to challenge in the upper levels.
TENGOKU was added in Version 3.0, with the highest floor being 201F. Further updates have expanded Tengoku to 251F, 301F, and the current top, 351F.
In Version 4.0, the NEO Towers of Tengoku were added; Side towers of Tengoku each based around one of the four factions, where you can challenge the Forcemen on Hell difficulty and find exclusive gear.
51F TENGOKUMON serves as the entry area to TENGOKU proper. The ambiance of TENGOKUMON resembles that of 41F SU-OI, but with a red tint. The floor contains the final elevator of the Tower, a Dustin TD, and the gate into Tengoku. As with the previous area, your inventory must be below a certain number of items to enter Tengoku. If you have too many, you can send excess items down to your Rewards Box for free using the Dustin TD next to the gate. Be aware that you will be unable to leave your Waiting Room once you return if your Rewards Box is holding 50 items or more. This gate does not negate mushroom effects.
After reaching TENGOKU 100F, another cutscene will happen, triggering the NEO towers to unlock. Interacting with the gate will now prompt you to choose if you want to enter TENGOKU or one of the four NEO areas. Each NEO area is based around one of the four Tower factions, and any gear you use from the same faction will be 10 times stronger. All enemies in the area will also have this boost, highly incentivizing you to only use gear of that faction. The NEO areas only reach 100F, but the material drops within start at the same level of normal 100F Tengoku. Every 10 floors, you'll also fight one of the Forcemen on HELL difficulty, and have a chance to obtain Blueprints for their new gear. For more information, please check the corresponding NEO page below:
In Tengoku, all enemies will drop a new resource called Bloodnium instead of SPLithium. This resource is mainly used along with Death 'Roids to Uncap your Fighters, but can also be used to purchase items from the Bloodnium Exchange in the Hernia. Tengoku is also the only source of Big Splattershrooms ( 100) and (above 80F) Mega Splattershrooms (
1000), but Bloodnium gains from these are NOT added to your modifier.
After returning from Tengoku, you'll receive a bonus modifier to these values.
Your final modifier is then added up and multiplied against the total Bloodnium you collected.
Every 5 floors starting at floor 55, a random challenge will appear that needs to be completed in order to progress. These challenges consist of a variety of enemies from screamers to bosses.
Defeating red named haters in TENGOKU grants the player a chance of them dropping treasure chests of two variants, either a silver treasure chest or a golden treasure chest. The total number of red named haters that can spawn in TENGOKU is four per floor from 52 - 180 and increases to six per floor from 181 and above. The total number of red named haters that can spawn in NEO D.O.D. is four per floor from 52 - 100.
One of the red named haters per floor is "special". Only the special red named hater can drop a golden treasure chest and a large amount of killcoins. The total number of special red named haters that can spawn in TENGOKU is one per floor from 52 - 180, two per floor from 181 - 220, three per floor from 221 - 240, and four per floor from 241 and above. The total number of special red named haters that can spawn in NEO D.O.D. is one per floor from 52 - 90, and two per floor from 90 - 100.
The drop table of the treasure chests are shown below:
These weapons and masks are very rare, very powerful variants of normal weapons and starter masks, which can drop in the TENGOKU area past 52F. Some of them can drop from Silver Chests that are scattered around the floors, as well as silver and gold chests dropped after killing a Hater. A separate group drop only from Gold Chests that are found in the room immediately following any Boss (Mid-boss or Don). The last category consists of the fewest - only two blueprints - and these can be obtained from gold Chests dropped by Treasure Tubers in Screamer Pits. The table below lists the drop category corresponding to each item. All of these blueprints are extremely rare. They may be available in the Bloodnium Exchange (as a weapon, not a blueprint) for 3000. Currently, these weapons cannot be Uncapped.
